Finally posting about our kayaking trip at Pictured Rocks. It was a 6 hour trip, 12 miles, and absolutely amazing. We paddled for about 4 hours, stopped for dinner at Mosquito River, then continued back to Miner’s Beach where we originally started. We got lucky that day, Lake Superior was super calm which is rare, and the sun was shining the whole time. We kayaked under cliffs with water dripping off them, through little rock alley ways, over a shipwreck, and in some caves. I can’t wait to head on back up here and do it all over again.
Oh, and the colorful stripes on the rocks are from mineral seepage. Different minerals leave different colors. Pretty cool, huh?
Miss the feeling of this place.
